[Essay 1] Task 2 Living in a house or in an apartment

IELTS, EssayTask 2

Some people prefer to live in a house, while others feel that there are more advantages to living in an apartment.  Are there more advantages than disadvantages of living in a house compared with living in an apartment?

From centuries people used to live in different buildings. Nowadays the most popular are houses and apartments. I truly believe that living in a house has more advantages than disadvantages.

Living in a house you can really feel free. This is because of huge space around you. Probably the most important advantage of having in a house is its bigger living area. It is not a problem usually to have 3 or 4 bedrooms. Additionally in most cases there is a backyard where you can organize a BBQ. Own garage is a next plus.

Living in an apartment often there is not too much space. Apartments with 4 bedrooms are quite rare and very expensive. In this case you have to forget about BBQ. Sometimes going outside is like a trip. And, what is very important, every month there is a fee to pay for living there.  Bigger apartment means bigger costs. So it is not profitable to live in a big one; in such case it is better to choose a house, especially when you have a big family.

I used to live in a house with my parents. Available huge space is a big advantage of houses. Now I live in a small apartment in Warsaw and I clearly see the differences. The area of my flat is not huge. Every month I have to pay a rent. Moreover every day I am forced to listen my neighbors' quarrels. And I cannot change them. At least I can change an apartment.

To sum up, I am sure I give a lot of reasons why living in a house is better than living in an apartment. Good luck for looking your own place to live.
