Preparation to IELTS

General:
- make English personal
- be aware of what could appear on the exam
 - recent questions
- routine
 - active listening
 - active speaking
 - active reading
 - coached writing

Listening
- listen actively
- train for accents
- listen to conversations (movie audio; take audio out of movies)
- testing strategies
 - underline keywords in the questions
 - use review time to previe next sectuib
 - check little errors at the end of the exam
- engage practice tests until you consistently get your mark
- get into it (enjoy what you listen)

Reading:
- remember
 - academic more leniently marked than General
 - questions are sequential
 - NG only if 100% absent
- testing strategies:
    - do one question at a time
    - save heading match until the end
    - find answer and write question number
    - do not read the text from start to finish
- engage practice tests

Writing
- focus on quality before focusing on speed
- learn essay structure
- actively read lots of example essays (To write good you have to actively read lots of exemplary essays)
- get you writing assessed to ensure you know how to improve

Speaking
- coherence trumps all (przebija wszystko)
- stay on topic
- use colloquialisms appropriately
- keep the conversation portions sounding like conversations
- practice speaking for longer than 2 minute (marathon (1,3,5,7))
- you can score 9 with an accent
- living in an English speaking country makes a difference
- test strategies:
    - answer directly and summarize!!!!!!!!
    - use transitions when needed; overuse can sound robotic
    - specific to Part 2
        - note keywords on cue card
        - make up something if you do not know
        - just write keywords
